About Software Dreams

When was Software Dreams founded and by Whom?
 

Sandeep Sethi founded Software Dreams in 2000. Sandeep has been in computers all his adult life. At 18 he had started a small software company called "Computer Oasis" (yes, he's into some interesting company names) in India in 1992 and it built accounting and other management  databases for business. Sandeep arrived in Australia in 1993 and went on to finish a Bachelor of IT at Griffith University.

After consulting for numerous companies including McDonalds, Trendwest Resorts, Technology One to name a few, he realised that small to medium business simply didn't have decent quality management software to benefit from. He realised first hand that the difference between "Big Business" and (the sometimes struggling) "Small Business" rested largely with their "Systems" (or lack thereof).

With a desire to help businesses of all sizes benefit from Management Software the quality of which was enjoyed by large corporations, he realised Internet Applications was the way to go. With a burning desire to serve and make a difference, Software Dreams was founded.

We were early adopters of Software as a Service (SasS) concept and when we released our first web based apps back in 2001 no-one even knew what they were! That of course made the journey more challenging as it was not just offering small business a cutting-edge but also educating them on the benefits of Open Applications and helping change their mind-set about fears around the Internet too. Common questions he fielded were along the lines of "But my data is not on my servers?!" or "What happens if the internet goes down?"

Today, more than ever, we are dedicated to developing cutting edge web applications and redefining what is possible through workflow and management software.  

Why do you do what you do?
 

For the initial few years Software Dreams developed customised solutions for small publicly listed companies.

While this work was rewarding financially, it was not in line with the vision of helping small to medium business and to have a larger and more direct impact in the marketplace.

In 2003 a decision was made to build industry focussed management software to support the smaller businesses and niche industries. Education was identified as a key industry (as Sandeep had already helped companies like Systems F1 design College Management System (also known as CMS) and helped numerous clients in this industry.

TEAMS was launched for VET, CRICOS and ELICOS Education Organisations around Australia in 2003.

Today, after years of commitment to the education industry, Software Dreams is at the forefront of helping RTOs and Education organisations to become more efficient, adopt best of breed industry practises and to remain compliant with the latest requirements of various government bodies.

We continue to create new innovations and relationships and our focus is to have technology meet the management and business needs of the industry.

Where is Software Dreams going? What is the vision for the future?
 

Software Dreams' vision is to provide easy to use management solutions, provide great advice and offer industry leading support for small to medium businesses. We have plans to go into other service industries and continuing to grow our client base for Education Organisations in Australia. We are working on some top-secret innovations and patents that can help us change how the industry views software. Our key goal is to revolutionise the software industry and enable clients to leverage the latest technology to serve them and not be a painful master that they are at the mercy of.

The key goals are to increase the ease of use of our applications, make them more customisable and flexible all with a view to help the profitability and sustainability of small to medium business around Australia and the world.

One of our key goals is to become the #1 provider of business software for the Education industry and help small to medium business profit and function with all the advantages that big business enjoys.
